8-9 December, jointly organized by Shanghai Industrial Cooperation Association, WORLD FORUM OFFSHORE WIND e.V. (WFO), decision-makers Think Tank, The Fifth Asia Offshore Wind Energy Conference (hereinafter referred to as OWA2022) was held in Shanghai by the Special Committee on New Energy Power generation Equipment of China Electrotechnical Society and the Special Committee on New Energy Equipment of China Power Engineering Society as the supporting unit. From 2019 to 2021, the newly installed capacity of offshore wind power in China ranked first in the world for three consecutive years, and the scale development of offshore wind power has been effective, showing a good growth trend overall. Today, China has expanded its position as a global offshore wind market with 24.9 GW of installed capacity, accounting for 45 percent of the world's total offshore wind capacity. China is in a similar position in terms of offshore wind farms under construction, with a total capacity of nearly 3.2GW. In the first half of 2022, 33 new offshore wind farms came online worldwide, 25 of them in China. "To the sea" is becoming a strong driving force for green and low-carbon energy development in China and beyond.
